TAK, Feb 8 (TNA) – Highway police officers in Tak province arrested 3 Thai men for allegedly transporting illegal migrant workers in two separate cases.
Migrant workers were found crammed inside a pickup truck both in the passenger compartment and the rear bed of the truck, covered with rubber sheet.
This vehicle was apprehended by officers while driving suspiciously on a highway in Mueang district, Tak province. It was flagged down for inspection, revealing the presence of 10 workers from Myanmar, comprising 7 men and 3 women, inside the vehicle.
No passports or identification documents were found. Two Thai men including the driver were admitted to transporting the foreign workers from a gas station in Wang Chao district, Tak province, to Ayutthaya province, for a payment of 1,000 baht each.
At another location, highway police officers in Tak arrested a vehicle driven by Mr. Metta in Mueang district, containing 8 Chinese men. Similar to the previous case, no passports or identification documents were found. Mr. Metta stated that he was transporting these Chinese workers from Chiang Rai province to Bangkok for a payment of 40,000 baht.
As a result, the Three Thai men were charged with concealing or assisting in any way to enable illegal migrants to evade capture.
Additionally, the 18 other foreign laborers, who entered the Kingdom of Thailand without permission, were sent to the police stations for further legal proceedings. -819 (TNA)
