BANGKOK, Nov 24 (TNA) – News of Thai hostages being released by Hamas has not been officially confirmed, said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Parnpree Bahiddha-nukara.
There was a news report on Friday morning that Palestinian armed group Hamas would release 23 Thai nationals held captive. The foreign minister said it cannot be confirmed as it comes from an unofficial source.
However, he acknowledged ongoing coordination efforts involving relevant parties, especially with foreign government, to expedite the swift release of the Thai nationals.
Regarding the visit of the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister to Thailand, Parnpree stated that it was a discussion on cooperation. Iran has confirmed that it will assist in facilitating the speedy release of the Thai nationals but has not yet confirmed if the release will occur today.
Concerning the preparations for receiving those Thai hostages if released, he said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been ready for a long time.
They have been prepared for 24 hours, eagerly awaiting their return. In the event of their release, whether through Israel or another country, plans have been laid out, and officials are prepared at various points. For those injured, it is known that they will not be released immediately and will need to recover first. (TNA)
