SAMUT PRAKAN, Sept 26 (TNA) – Suvarnabhumi Airport is set to commence its soft opening of the Satellite Terminal 1 (SAT-1) building on Sept28 to accommodate tourism.
Mr. Kirati Kitmanawat, CEO of Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) said that the SAT-1 terminal at Suvarnabhumi Airport, covering approximately 250,000 square meters with 28 boarding gates, is now ready for full operation at 100% capacity.
This expansion aims to enhance the efficiency of passenger handling and flight volumes while reducing congestion in the main passenger terminal area.
In the initial phase, two airlines will operate their flights from the SAT-1 terminal, namely Thai AirAsia X and Thai VietJet.
Currently, there are about 10 airlines expressing interest in operating from the SAT-1 terminal, including Emirates, Etihad Airways, All Nippon Airways, Qatar Airways, and Thai Airways.
After a one-month trial period following the soft opening, the AoT will consider officially launching operations, with an initial estimate in November. (TNA)
