BANGKOK, July 3 (TNA) – His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn will preside over the opening of parliament at 5p.m. on Monday.
The opening of the first parliamentary session will pave the way for the formation of the new government after the May 14 election, in which the Move Forward Party won the most seats and is leading the formation of eight-party coalition government with 312 seats in total.
After the official opening of the parliament, a meeting of 500-seat House of Representatives will be held to select the House Speaker post and two deputies.
It is expected the elected lower house and the appointed senate will vote for the new prime minister later this month.
The coalition-leading MFP’s prime ministerial candidate Pita Limjaroenrat,42 needs more than half of the 750 seats in parliament or 376 votes to become the next prime minister. (TNA)
