BANGKOK, Sept 19 (TNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon visited Narathiwat province to follow up local water situations and discuss the development of southern border provinces.
From Wing 6 in Bangkok’s Don Muang district, Gen Prawit arrived in the southern border province and went to Princess of Naradhiwas University where he was briefed on water management in southern border provinces.
There he also visited an exhibition on potential development for Thai and Malaysian customs checkpoints. Then he attended a meeting of a committee on strategies for the development of southern border provinces and met representatives of businesspeople in the far South.
In the afternoon Gen Prawit inspected the Sungai Kolok border checkpoint and the construction of the second Thai-Malaysian bridge across the Golok River to link Sungai Kolok district and Rantau Panjan town of the Malaysian State of Kelantan.
Besides, he followed up progress in the construction of embankments along the Golok River to protect local communities from flooding and met local people there. (TNA)
