LOEI, Sept 13 (TNA) – Severe flooding continued in many northeastern provinces and officials installed pumps to speed up flood drainage.
In Loei province, the Loei River overflowed to many houses in the low-lying Muang Mai community in Muang Loei municipality. The level of the Loei River was higher than the community and it overflowed through sandbags to flood about 80 houses.
The Royal Irrigation Department installed two pumps to drain floodwater from the Muang Mai community. The level of the Loei River was subsiding slowly as the level of the Mekong River was high.
In Nakhon Ratchasima province, people living along an irrigation canal of the Huai Bong reservoir in Chum Phuang district were warned of possible flashfloods and overflow because the reservoir was holding 15 million cubic meters of water which exceeded its capacity by 2%.
Meanwhile, Mun and Mat rivers overflowed to about 500 rai of farmland and fragrant rice fields in Chum Phuang district. The flood level was about one meter deep and was rising and expanding on persistent rains. The rivers were receiving considerable water from the Phimai dam in Phimai district which was speedily discharging water into the Mun River to prepare for deluges from Muang, Chalerm Phrakiat, Chakkarat and Non Sung districts.
