BANGKOK, Sept 6 (TNA) – About 1.86 million people applied for the government’s welfare cards for the poor on the first day of the registration.
Pornchai Thiraveja, director-general of the Fiscal Policy Office and spokesman for the Ministry of Finance, said the registration for the state welfare card project for 2022 started on Sept 5 and as of 3 pm 1.86 million people registered for it. Of the applicants, 1.61 million people registered online and 248,696 others did it with relevant organizations.
The organizations handling the registration are the branches of Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives, Government Savings Bank, Krungthai Bank, provincial finance offices, district offices and Pattaya City Hall.
People with disabilities, bed-ridden people and the elderly citizens who cannot register for the cards by themselves can authorize others to do it for them until Oct 19. (TNA)
