BANGKOK, Aug 23 (TNA) – Political Activist Srisuwan Janya said he would file a complaint against the Election Commission (EC) after the agency decided not to forward his petition, seeking the ruling on when Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha’s eight-year tenure should end.
In response to the EC’s decision, he said he would file the complaint against the EC over the dereliction of duty to the National Anti-Corruption Commission on August 24.
The EC dropped the petition on the Prime Minister’s eight- year term in office, saying the opposition camp’s petition on the same issue had been already submitted to the Constitutional Court on Monday through the parliamentary channel.
The opposition believes the eight-year tenure of the Prime Minister is limited to end on Aug 24 this year as he was installed as the premier under the interim constitution on August 24, 2014 following the coup in May that year. (TNA)
