BANGKOK, Aug 18 (TNA) – Veteran film actor and national artist Sombat Methanee died at the age of 85 during sleep at his home in Lat Phrao district on Thursday.
The Director-General of the Department of Cultural Promotion said that the royally-sponsored bathing ceremony is scheduled at 5 p.m. today at Wat Phrasri Mahathat Voramahaviharn in Bangkok.
Funeral rites will be held for seven days from Aug 18-24. Afterwards, his body will be kept for 100 days prior to the royally-sponsored cremation.
Sombat was born in Ubon Ratchathani. He began his career as an actor in 1960. He was named national artist for the year 2016 in the field of performing arts. He once held the Guinness World Record for playing the main character in 617 movies. (TNA)
