BANGKOK, Oct 26 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha attended the US-ASEAN Summit where United States President Joe Biden promised to maintain help for ASEAN.
Gen Prayut joined the 9th US-ASEAN Summit remotely from Government House at 8pm and President Biden attended the summit for the first time after assuming his position.
In the meeting, Gen Prayut made three proposals on US-ASEAN cooperation.
Firstly, he proposed both sides work together to ensure the adequate and quick distribution of COVID-19 vaccines to people.
Secondly, he urged the United States to expand cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations on promoting the investment and industries that are friendly to the environment especially through the US International Climate Finance Plan.
Thirdly, Gen Prayut said he hoped the US and ASEAN would join forces to actively promote digital development after both sides approved a joint communique on digital development.
The US president attended the US-ASEAN Summit for the first time in four years. (TNA)
