PHETCHABUN, Sept 10 (TNA) – A runoff hit lots of houses in many villages of Lom Kao district and it was considered as the worst runoff in a century of Lom Kao.
Rains had continued for days in the upper part of the district which also received water from nearby mountains in Dan Sai district of Loei province. Finally the runoff hit Ban Pong Sam Kha village in Lom Kao. Local roads were impassable and the village was isolated.
Last night the deluge also struck five other villages in Tad Kloy sub-district. About 260 houses were damaged. Vehicles were washed away and almost fell into the Pasak River. Villagers lost their household items and farming tools.
The chief of Lom Kao district said two houses were completely damaged but there were no casualties. Concerned organizations were helping victims around the clock.
People in Tad Kloy sub-district said that they had never experienced such a devastating flood and they thought it was the worst flooding in a century of Lom Kao. The runoff was very powerful at midnight and too fast for villagers to move their belongings.
Local people were afraid that there could be more runoffs because of persistent rain. (TNA)
