BANGKOK, Aug 13 (TNA) – An anti-government demonstration group invited followers to rally at the Victory Monument in Bangkok at 3pm today.
The talufah page on Facebook asked supporters to gather on the traffic island of the monument adjacent to Phaya Thai Road from 3pm onwards. The head of the Facebook page was rally leader Jatupat Boonpattararaksa aka Pai Dao Din who was imprisoned for violating a bail condition.
Earlier, an anti-government demonstration on Aug 7 led to a fire on a police prisoner transport truck at the Victory Monument and the damage of a traffic police booth of the Phaya Thai police station.
Police arrested two young men for allegedly setting alight the police truck.
Arthit Sakolwaree, 20, was arrested in his room on Suksawat 70 Road in Phra Pradaeng district of Samut Prakan. Police seized from him two illegal guns, a certain amount of marijuana and the clothes he wore during the Aug 7 protest.
The other suspect is Namchiao Niamchan, also 20. He was arrested at a parking lot of Thab Thim Mansion apartment in Chom Thong district, Bangkok.
The two suspects confessed to the crime. Police brought them to acknowledge charges at the Phaya Thai police station. (TNA)
