BANGKOK, July 14 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha does not oppose the idea of inoculating people against COVID-19 with different kinds of vaccines in series, according to the government spokesman.
Anucha Burapachaisri said the prime minister wanted the fastest vaccination for people, especially for elderly ones and those suffering chronic diseases.
Regarding a proposal on the mixed use of different vaccines for the first and second jabs, the government spokesman said, the priority was the fastest inoculation for as many people as possible because the Delta variant of COVID-19 was easily transmissible and was spreading rapidly.
The prime minister did not intend to suspend mix-and-match vaccines and all concerned parties should listen to the stance of the National Communicable Disease Committee on the matter of vaccine combination and take careful consideration, Mr Anucha said.
Local researches on the idea of administering several vaccines for same recipients reflected the endless efforts of Thai doctors to combat the Delta variant. They were systematically trying methods to find the best solution and the government hoped they would be successful and recognized, the government spokesman said. (TNA)
