BANGKOK, June 24 (TNA) – Hundreds of police and security guards were deployed to handle demonstrators at the parliament complex as the latter called for constitutional amendments.
Security measures were in place at the parliament complex. About three companies of police including riot ones were mobilized.
No barricades were installed because rally representatives informed the House secretariat that demonstrators would gather on Thahan Road and Kiakkai intersection and would not enter the complex. They only asked representatives of government and opposition whips to receive their letters on constitutional amendments.
Leading demonstrators, Jatupat Boonpattararaksa aka Pai Dao Din and Parit Chiwarak aka Penguin said their rally at the parliament would be peaceful and they would move to Pathumwan intersection at 5pm.
They also planned political activities in 19 northeastern provinces next month. (TNA)
