BANGKOK, May 13 (TNA) – Authorities ordered closure of a construction workers’ camp, run by Italian-Thai Development Plc. in Bangkok’s Laksi district after the mass testing found 196 people being infected with Covid-19.
After an inspection at the camp, Palang Pracharat MP Sira Jenjaka the mass testing, conducted on 300 workers found 196 people tested positive for Covid-19.
The active testing will be conducted on additional 500 migrant workers tomorrow and another 300 Thai workers on Saturday.
He said that the construction camp was an at-risk area with a new cluster of Covid-19 infections and quick action was needed to prevent the spread of the disease.
The area has been closed and a ban on entering and leaving the site has been imposed since two days ago.
The Italian-Thai Development has provided food for people inside the camp. The company confirmed that all migrant workers there are legally registered. (TNA)
