BANGKOK, Sept 30 (TNA) — Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha will visit the Laem Chabang Port in Chon Buri province on Oct 1 to follow up projects to promote the international transport roles of the port that is a part of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).
Government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri said the prime minister and his delegation would visit the port to follow up several projects to promote the port’s water transport services and its better connection to the Andaman Sea.
According to the spokesman, there are projects to expand the port, build a land bridge to link the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea and improve the port’s connection with cargo trains.
During the visit, the prime minister will also discuss investment in the EEC with representatives of Thai and foreign companies including PTT Plc, Mitsubishi Motor (Thailand) Co and QMB Co. They will discuss EEC’s potential for future industries including automation, robotics and medical industries.
On the same occasion, the prime minister will ceremonially receive the first monorail trains of Pink and Yellow Lines. (END)
