BANGKOK, Jan 3 (TNA) — The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) will open another walking street on Soi Rang Nam Road mid next month for economic stimulation.
Bangkok deputy governor Sakolthee Phatthiyakul said Soi Rang Nam in Ratchathewi district was suitable to be an occasional walking street in Bangkok because there were residential units, premises and hotels and there were also a lot of tourists.
“Soi Rang Nam will be a walking street once a month on weekends. The first event will be there from noon to 10pm on Feb 15 and 16… Operators on Soi Rang Nam and from other areas in Ratchathewi district will sell products and foods. Interested vendors will also be welcome. They can register themselves with the Ratchathewi district office that will select them later,” Mr Sakolthee said.
The event was aimed at tourism promotion. There would also be a concert at the Santipharp public park in the middle of the road and vegetables would be sold there, the Bangkok deputy governor said.
Soi Rang Nam was 664 meters long and could accommodate 418 vendors, he said. (TNA)
