NONTHABURI, Nov 1 (TNA) – Thai police run a final
check-up on security measures at the venue of the 35th ASEAN Summit and related
meetings.
Head of police units and security agencies inspected
security systems, procedures at Muang Thong Thani in Nonthaburi, where leaders
are gathering for the Summit that will begin on Saturday until Monday.
Around 2,000 security officers responsible for emergency
operations and intelligence are joining 1,500 police officers to provide safety
for attendees.
The Thursday’s inspection was to ensure effectiveness of the
measures that are in place. Hi-tech
equipment such as monitoring and surveillance cameras have been installed.
Across the capital city 17,000 police and security officers
including Army commandos have been
deployed, according the government. They
have secured locations including embassies, mass-transit systems and shopping
malls. Patrol officers will work
round-the-clock at several spots.(TNA)
