BANGKOK, April 29 (TNA) – Thailand has held the third
rehearsal of the procession for His Majesty the King’s coronation ceremony at
the actual sites in historic quarter of Bangkok.
About 1,500 government civilian and military officers took
part in the dress rehearsal for the royal procession which will take place on
May 5; one day after King Maha Vajiralongkorn is formally crowned in the
coronation ceremony.
Soldiers of the royal guard and other armed force units led
by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha formed the royal procession carrying royal
regalia.
His Majesty and the members of the Royal Family will travel
from the Grand Palace to three temples — Wat Bovoranives, Wat Rajabopidh and
Wat Phra Chetuphon – in the royal procession.
It will be the largest royal procession of the coronation ceremony
covering about seven kilometers.
Also on May 5, the royal name will formally be bestowed and
new titles given to members of the Royal Family.
Meanwhile, a five-tier umbrella and a seven-tier umbrella
were placed on Suphannahong, a royal barge, at Thonburi Naval Dockyard in
Bangkok on Monday.
The Royal Thai Navy is responsible for preparing the barge
which will be in an elaborate riverine which will be in a riverine procession
carrying Buddhist robes in a tradition merit-making.
Then, in October, the King will board the royal barge
carrying the robes to monks after the end of the Buddhist Lent. (TNA)
