BANGKOK, March 27 (TNA) – Nakhon Sawan Biocomplex (NBC), the country first bio-economic industrial complex with a planned total investment of 7.5 million baht will start producing ethanol from sugarcane in the first phase operation of the facilities in the next two years.
A 5.2-million baht loan agreement was today signed by Global Green Chemical Plc (GGC), Kaset Thai International Sugar Corporation Plc (KTIS) and Krung Thai Bank for the first phase of NBC construction, set to begin in May this year.
The commercial operation is expected to start in the first quarter of 2021.
Sekxon Attamangkura, Managing director of GGC said about the first phase project that a sugar cane crushing plant will be built with capacity of 24,000 tonne per day as well as an ethanol production plant with daily capacity of 600,000 litres.
A biomass power plant with 85-megawatt capacity is part of basic infrastructure for more investment in in the second phase, which will see cooperation with foreign allies to study cellulosic technology for production of higher value products such as biodegradable plastics from sugarcane bagasse.
The ethanol production plant will create 400 jobs and generate income for sugar cane growers. Local farmers will adopt new technology and agricultural machinery to solve labour shortage and to reduce air pollution from burning in sugar cane harvesting. (TNA)
