BANGKOK, March 27 (TNA) — The Pheu Thai Party’s announcement to form a coalition government with six other parties has only psychological effects and is still far from reality, Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam said.
“It creates a certain degree of awareness in the society but does not take a serious effect. It has not been finalized because only 95% of unofficial election results have been announced. The rest 5% consists of substantial votes. Many actions have yet to be taken. There are more than 100 complaints which may lead to many yellow and orange cards,” he said.
“Pending the vote for the prime minister, although an agreement was signed, changes are still possible. This happened during the tenure of former prime minister Prem Tinsulanonda. The House had voted for the prime minister but another person assumed the premiership and parties with majority votes turned out to be the opposition,” the deputy prime minister said.
According to him, after the announcement of official election results by May 9, senators will be nominated in three days. The list will be royally approved.
Fifteen days afterwards His Majesty the King will open the parliament and members of the parliament will vote for the next prime minister.
The vote would happen in either late May or early June. If the first round of the premier vote failed, it would move to next steps under the constitution, Mr Wissanu said. (TNA)
