NAKHON SI THAMMARAT, Jan 5 (TNA) – Three storm-related deaths were reported in Nakhon Si Thammarat, which was hit by tropical storm Pabuk yesterday.
The first victim died in a road accident in Pak Phanang district during the storm and another victim was killed by a falling tree.
The last one is a 101-year-old man who died early Saturday because of heart failure at a shelter in Hua Sai district.
The storm began at about 12.45 p.m. yesterday and lasted until midnight. Houses were ravaged by the storm, flash flood and massive sea swells. Many trees were uprooted, electricity poles were knocked down and telecommunication system was cut off.
Concerned officials are accelerating assistance to affected people. The survey on the damage is being conducted and the figures cannot be concluded at the moment. (TNA)
